If I were to tell you our congressman was an f-bomb dropping, short-tempered hot head, you would think I would be talking about Michael Grimm. In reality, I’m talking about Max Rose.
Let’s go back to 2018. Max showed up with millions of dollars and usurped control of local democratic politics because he made his deal with the DC powerhouses. He did his best to walk and talk the Staten Island way, beating up on the mayor and complaining about traffic, despite being from Park Slope. But, the fundamental problem with Max is that he took the “Jersey Shore” version of Staten Island and tried to personify it.
The way he uses curse words in interviews and with constituents is reminiscent of a middle schooler who just learned them for the first time. But what’s even more disgusting is his defense of his vulgar language by saying, “I’m from Staten Island, they like it.” Well Max, we don’t like it, and clearly you’re not from Staten Island, because you haven’t been here long enough to remember that we hated the way “Jersey Shore” portrayed us.
If this is the way he portrays us publicly, one can only imagine how he does so in the backrooms of Washington, as he fist pumps for campaign donations.
And then, to have the audacity to call a constituent “f---ing insane?” Max, the only person that’s insane is you for thinking you have done a good job representing us.
I could go on, whether it’s denigrating a female member of the House of Representatives on the house floor, having an unhinged freak out after the NRCC targeted him over his impeachment decision on NY1, or calling his own staffer “f---k nuts,” the only thing he has accomplished is reinstituting the “Jersey Shore” connotations that we fought against for years.
If that’s what you want to do, I suggest you send your resume to MTV & VH1. I’m sure they will be elated to have someone of your stature.
