Gal Gadot is back to play the powerful heroine in Wonder Woman 1984, available to stream on HBO Max today, Friday, December 25 – the same day that it’s coming to movie theaters.
Diana Prince, otherwise known as Wonder Woman, is the daughter of Queen Hippolyta. She was raised on the hidden island of Themyscira where the warrior women of the Amazons live. They were created by the Olympian gods to protect mankind – and Diana is trained by General Antiope, Hippolyta’s sister, to become a warrior.
The first film leaves us at the end of World War I, but this sequel jumps us to 1984, right in the middle of the Cold War. Diana now works as a senior anthropologist at the Smithsonian Institute. What she doesn’t know is that somewhere in the Smithsonian is the Dreamstone. Created by the God of Treachery and Mischief, the Dreamstone will grant your wish, but in return, will take your most cherished possession.
When the powers of the Dreamstone fall into the wrong hands, she’ll have to work fast and furious to prevent them from going too far and fulfilling their promise of granting the world all of their wishes.
