It's going to be beyond intriguing to interview Max Highstein on 8/18/20. He is not your standard Jazz artist. He's beyond categorizing, though he has been wholly trained in the Classics and Jazz. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. His home was filled with music (and brilliance) when he was a child. Max's Father was a doctor, painter and musician who inspired his eager son to focus on the clarinet - then Rock organ at age 13.
Fast forward to a Bachelor's degree in Music at Goddard College - then two Masters in Spiritual Psychology and Counseling. Max started to create therapeutic guided imagery and recordings that were not the (here's that word again) standard. Our guest and his vision of music helped launch the NAC Radio format of the late 1980's and early 1990's. We'll talk about his 14th project in a minute - but earlier albums were played heavily on the syndicated "The Wave" radio outlets.
Another profoundly influential set of works within "The Healing Waterfall" became a Go-To regarding popular guided imagery programs. This is a human whose brain is functioning at full capacity, having had experiences that persuaded him to be used as a force for healing. Maybe one of those experiences was as a house piano tuner at Blues Alley in the shadow of D.C. Maybe those deep roots in Baltimore helped him form his mission - this online host KNOWS how Charm City can affect someone positively!
We are CERTAINLY going to be discussing "Gratitunes" - the reason for Max's visit. And how a return to soprano sax is cause for celebration. But we'll also delve into the 40 + years of intuitive counseling, guided imagery expertise, and that fabulous recording studio in Max's adopted Santa Fe, New Mexico.
See? Renaissance Man! Crossing genres is only HALF the story. Max Highstein is a RARE breed. You'll hear that. And I cannot WAIT :)
