Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, and Karen Pittman all join the series as new characters.

The glossy world of Sex and the City is welcoming new blood. HBO Max’s upcoming SATC revival, And Just Like That has cast Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker and Karen Pittman as all-new characters, multiple outlets report. The 10-episode series, which began production in New York City last week, stars OG cast members Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis. Kim Cattrall has famously skipped out on the project.

“Everyone at And Just Like That is thrilled to have these amazing and vibrant actors join the Sex and the City family,” executive producer Michael Patrick King said in a statement, per Deadline. “Each of them will add their unique spark and big heart to these new characters and the stories we are about to tell.”

Little is known about how this trio crosses paths with Carrie Bradshaw and co. However, brief character details have been provided for our analyzing pleasure. Choudhury (Little Fires Everywhere) plays Seema Patel, a single and successful Manhattan real estate broker. Parker (Empire) stars as Lisa Todd Wexley, a documentarian and Park Avenue mother of three. And Pittman (The Morning Show) is Dr. Nya Wallace, described as “a brilliant, challenging Columbia Law professor.”

The casting of Choudhury, Parker, and Pittman, along with series regular Sara Ramirez as the show’s first non-binary character, suggests genuine diversity in the Sex and the City cast for the first time. TVLine previously reported that the revival would include about six new characters—at least three of whom would be series regulars and women of color. HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys said that he and King “didn’t want to tell a story with all-white writers or an all-white cast” because “it’s not reflective of New York. So they are being very, very conscious about understanding that New York has to reflect the way New York looks today.”

In addition to the fresh faces, a few SATC leading men are returning, including Chris Noth as Mr. Big, David Eigenberg as Steve, Evan Handler as Harry, Willie Garson as Stanford, and Mario Cantone as Anthony. (The official status of John Corbett’s Aidan is TBD.)

HBO Max’s And Just Like That… has yet to receive a release date.
