New Knightmare Batman Image Celebrates BvS Ultimate Edition on HBO Max - Screen Rant

A new image of Knightmare Batman from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice promotes the Ultimate Edition of the film on HBO Max. Batman v Superman wasn't very well-received when it was first released in 2016, which further tarnished the reputation of the DC Extended Universe. Initially when the DC film was added to HBO Max, it was the theatrical version of Zack Snyder's film, but now the Ultimate Edition of Batman v Superman will be the only version on the streaming service.

Despite Batman v Superman not doing very well initially, fans have had a somewhat better view of the film in the past few years because of the Ultimate Edition. This version of the movie included several deleted scenes while extended others to help it feel more cohesive and helped make Lex Luthor's motivation clearer. One of the key scenes that were slightly extended was the Knightmare sequence that teased the introduction of Darkseid to the DCEU. Many consider the Knightmare scene one of the most intriguing parts of the whole movie, and now it's being used to advertise HBO Max.

Zack Snyder recently shared a new image of Batman from the Knightmare sequence to reveal that HBO Max now has the Ultimate Edition of Batman v Superman. The new image is accompanied by the quote, "Of course he's real. He's on HBO Max." Snyder's original tweet can be seen below:

The Ultimate Edition of Batman v Superman is the newest addition to HBO Max's current line up of DC entertainment. Doom Patrol was originally a DC Universe exclusive before moving to HBO Max for season 2, and Harley Quinnanother DC Universe exclusive, is also coming to HBO Max in the near future. Of course, the biggest DC film coming to HBO Max is the long-anticipated Snyder Cut of Justice LeagueThese, along with the other live-action and animated DC films already available on HBO's streaming service, lead people to believe that DC Universe may soon merge with HBO Max.

It's unlikely that this new version of Batman v Superman will convince people to subscribe to HBO Max if they haven't already. The R-rated version of the film was released the same year Batman v Superman hit theaters, so many DC fans have likely already seen the Ultimate Edition when it got its home release. That being said, seeing Snyder's full vision for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice certainly won't hurt HBO Max at all and could get more people excited for the Snyder Cut in 2021.
