MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Experience was full of live music and joy Saturday.

The MAX had a big family picnic to celebrate the First Saturday along with the fourth of July. A group of people ate hotdogs, wore their patriotic t-shirts, and listened to live music performed by Britt Gully on the courtyard stage. Organizers said Saturday was a great turnout and they are excited to see more activities being held in Meridian.

“Happy Fourth of July to everyone. It’s so great to see all these activities downtown Meridian. You have Earth’s Bounty taken place and First Saturday here at The MAX. We have discounted admissions, five dollars for adults and one dollar for children. It’s a little different but there’s no reason it can’t be a lot of fun. There’s a lot of busy activity downtown that kind of makes you feel like things are starting to come back and want to do that safely,” said MAX marketing director Jerome Trahan.

The MAX marketing director Jerome Trahan also encourages residents to watch Meridian’s own Jamal Roberts as he is set to compete in a national singing competition this weekend.
