Bloomington-based Toro Co. is recalling approximately 6,700 Power Max snowblowers because of a potential amputation hazard.

According to the voluntarily recall announced Wednesday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Toro has received five reports of incidents related to the auger failing to disengage when the control lever is released. No injuries have been reported.

The recalled snowblower is the 2021 Power Max 826 OHAE, model number 37802. They were sold through Home Depot, Ace Hardware and Toro authorized dealers nationwide between November 2020 and last month at a cost of about $1,200.

Serial numbers included in the recall are listed on Toro’s website at toro.com/en/product-safety-information/product-recall-information. The model and serial number are on the back of the snowblower.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled snowblower and contact a Toro authorized service dealer for a free repair, the CPSC said. For a list of dealers, consumers can call Toro’s 24-hour locator system at 833-254-8856 or go to toro.com/locator.
