Those who regularly travel on Interstate 205 between Oregon City and Tualatin are invited to make their opinions known during a month-long online open house hosted by the Oregon Department of Transportation.

ODOT launched the new online open house April 12 and is looking for public input on the I-205 Improvements Project planned for seven miles between Stafford Road and OR 213, including the Abernethy Bridge over the Willamette River.

The online open house is available at I205corridor.org through April 30.

According to a recent ODOT release, more than 100,000 vehicles a day use this stretch of road between OR 213 in Oregon City and Stafford Road in West Linn. The bottleneck is the last remaining two-lane section of I-205 and creates nearly seven hours of congestion a day.

The project is now nearing the end of the design phase. The plan hopes to reduce congestion and travel times, add an additional travel lane, increase safety and improve interchanges along the stretch. Plans are also underway to seismically strengthening the Abernethy Bridge and eight smaller bridges.
