Louisville football has landed its third commitment from the class of 2022 in the form of Canadian offensive lineman Max Cabana.
Cabana, who took an official visit to U of L earlier this month, announced his commitment on social media Monday morning.
The 6’5, 270-pound Cabana is a three-star prospect according to 247 Sports. He had an offer from Central Michigan to go along with Ivy League offers from Columbia, Brown and Dartmouth before pledging his allegiance to the Cards.
Cabana did not have a junior season of high school football because of Covid, and has had a hard time traveling to the United States for camps and official visits because of Canada’s current travel restrictions.
“This is a kid who was really hurt by not having a junior tape and a season,” 247Sports national analyst Brian Dohn said. “He’s done a really good job of adding strength and bend. He would have picked up a lot of offers (if he had a season) or if he was able to get to camps.
“It’s tough getting in and out of Canada right now and he just didn’t get a chance to make many trips. He’s a Power 5 kid and he’s one that could really flourish during his senior year and I think Louisville could really get a steal out of this one.”
Cabana joins edge Popeye Williams and QB Khalib Johnson as current members of Scott Satterfield’s 2022 recruiting class.
