HBO Max’s Sex and the City Revival Brings Back Four Favorite Leading Men - Vanity Fair

David Eigenberg, Evan Handler, Willie Garson, and Mario Cantone join previously announced cast members Chris Noth and Sara Ramirez.

The boys are officially back in town. After weeks of speculation about Sex and the City’s upcoming revival, And Just Like That… four of the original show’s favorite characters are (finally!) confirmed to return. HBO Max announced on Wednesday that David Eigenberg’s Steve Brady, Evan Handler’s Harry Goldenblatt, Willie Garson’s Stanford Blatch, and Mario Cantone’s Anthony Marentio will all appear in the 10-episode series.

“Everyone at And Just Like That… is thrilled to be able to continue the storylines of these beloved Sex and the City characters with the actors who made them so lovable,” executive producer Michael Patrick King said in a statement. This quartet joins previously confirmed cast members Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda, Kristin Davis as Charlotte, Chris Noth as Mr. Big, and Sara Ramirez, as nonbinary podcast host Che Diaz. (John Corbett declared his return to the show in April, although HBO Max has yet to confirm.)

News that more OG cast members are returning is no doubt a source of comfort for die-hard fans. All four men played central roles in the lives of Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte. Both Eigenberg and Handler portray spouses of central characters—the former is Miranda’s lovable bar owner husband, the latter is Charlotte’s partner, an endearing (if messy) lawyer. Meanwhile, Stanford and Anthony began Sex and the City as trusted friends of Carrie and Charlotte, respectively. Then the pair found unlikely love with one another, tying the knot in a Liza Minnelli-officiated ceremony during Sex and the City 2. (Go ahead and re-watch.)

And Just Like That… is billed as a continuation of Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte’s “journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.” But since the show was announced in January, viewers have scrambled to determine who else will be in the cast. That trepidation was perhaps caused by Kim Cattrall’s exit from the franchise after six seasons and two movies spent playing the sex-positive Samantha Jones.

When it comes to announcing additional cast members, time is of the essence. Production on Sex and the City’s revival begins this summer.
