With two weeks left in the countdown to kickoff, the Collegian looks at two potential stars in quarterback Max Marsh and defensive back Marvin Martin.

Marsh is a 6 foot 3 inch, 205-pound quarterback from Grand Junction, Colorado. He spent the first three years of his high school career at Central High School before transferring to Eaglecrest High School his senior year.

Throughout high school, Marsh played under his father, head coach Shawn Marsh. Max totaled 5,607 passing yards and 39 touchdowns while also rushing for 1,314 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Marsh also did track in high school, earning all-conference honors in the 300-meter hurdles and the 110-meter hurdles.

On Nov. 29, 2019, Marsh committed to play at Kansas State and redshirted the 2020 season.

With Skylar Thompson at quarterback and Will Howard, Jaren Lewis and Jake Rubley sitting behind him, it might take some time before Marsh gets a chance to play in a big game.

The second player on today’s countdown is Marvin Martin, the 6 foot, 185-pound defensive back from Vicksburg, Mississippi. Martin spent his sophomore and junior seasons at Vicksburg High School. Martin earned all-district honors as a junior with 80 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 6.0 sacks and five forced fumbles.

Martin transferred to Trinity Christian School in Texas his senior year, where he helped the Tigers go 8-3 and earn a national championship by defeating HEIR Eagles Academy in The Christian Athletic League’s national championship game.

Rated as the 56th-best safety in the class of 2021 by ESPN, Martin received offers from Jackson State, Arkansas State, Alcorn State and Boston College before committing to K-State on Nov. 25, 2020.

K-State is currently loaded on defensive backs, but Martin could be a future star for the Wildcats.
