Max Kellerman is down, but not out, at ESPN.
Front Office Sports’ Michael McCarthy was the first to report the Worldwide Leader will be taking Kellerman off “First Take,” the daily debate show with Stephen A. Smith.

The New York Post’s Andrew Marchand reports “this is not the end of Kellerman at ESPN as he is likely headed for the network’s morning national radio show to be teamed with Keyshawn Johnson, according to sources. Under the scenario, Kellerman would replace Zubin Mehenti. It is unclear if Jay Williams will remain on the program as it is a bit onerous with his NBA role. If everything is signed, the changes are expected to go through next month.”
Marchand also reports Kellerman is “likely” to land an afternoon TV show, possibly in the 2 p.m. ET time slot. That’s where ESPN currently has “Jalen & Jacoby” and “Highly Questionable” on the program grid.
Kellerman joined “First Take” in 2016 after Skip Bayless jumped to FOX Sports, where he hosts “Undisputed” with Hall-of-Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe.
As for what “First Take” will look like moving forward, McCarthy reports “Smith is not expected to have a daily debate partner. Instead, he could debate various ESPN personalities as well as high-profile guests.”
“It could be Stephen A. vs the World,” said one source.
Marchand reports Molly Qerim is expected to continue as “First Take” host “but Smith is the undisputed star.”
