It was a rough start to the weekend for the Bats with a little redemption on Sunday. On Friday night, the pitching got absolutely trounced outside of “Finding” Dauri Moreta striking out two in a shutout inning. He has a 0.85 ERA in 42.1 innings this year with 52 strikeouts. As of now, he’s probably the Reds best relieving prospect. Max “Girthy” Schrock went 2 for 4 with a walk, a double, and a dinger, and Alfredo “Little Pasta” Rodriguez went 3 for 4 with a double, a dinger, a run scored, and three total RBI. In Saturday’s game, Reiver Sanmartin gave up seven earned over five innings, but Alaniz, Howard, and Hendrix all had scoreless innings out of the pen. Max Schrock continued his tear by knocking in all of the Bats runs and doubling and hitting another home run. It was his sixth of the year. Sunday ended up being a bullpen game. Nick “LOL” Lodolo struck out the side in eleven pitches. He seems to be strictly pitching an inning at a time now. Pitchers that did not allow a run were Antone, Feliz, Fulmer, Perez, Hendrix, and Moreta who continues to not allow a run in AAA. Braxton Lee singled and walked twice, and Alejo “Aloha” Lopez singled twice and walked. The offense was pretty stagnate on Sunday even though the Bats eeked out five runs.

In Friday’s start, Randy “Marsh” Wynne gave up three earned runs over six innings. He allowed seven hits, no walks, while striking out three. Perez, Lopez, and Pidich combined the final three innings to slam the door. Pedro “Ricola” Cedrola knocked in four on a 2 for 5 night, and so did “John” Quincy McAfee who went 2 for 4 with two runs scored. There were obviously a ton of runs scored in this one, mostly on dingers, which I’ll just list now. All the home runs were hit by Mark Kolozsvary, Pedro Cedrola, Drew “Stallion” Mount, and Quincy McAfee. On Saturday, “Big” Mac Sceroler got torched. Pedro Cedrola went 3 for 5 with a run scored, Luis Rivas went 1 for 3 with two walks, and Robbie Tenerowicz went 2 for 4 with a dinger, two RBI, a run scored, and a walk. Matt Lloyd also added to the scored with a solo home run. The pitcher was also gross on Sunday. Dylan Baker wasn’t effective at all but Demurias and Lopez did their best to stabilize the bullpen. Again, a bunch of dingers were hit. They were hit by Garcia, Tenerowicz, Robinson, and Robinson. The star of the game on Sunday was arguably “Mister” Wilson Garcia who went 3 for 4 with the previously mentioned dinger and four RBI total. You may have also heard in the news today that the Chattanooga Lookouts owner is being investigated for operating a Ponzi scheme involving roughly $110 million. So, I wouldn’t expect him to be the owner much longer.

Leading off on Friday, Eduardo “Sizzlin” Salazar took the start after a lengthy rain delay. Due to the delay, the game only lasted seven innings and that was all Salazar needed. He tossed seven shutout innings while only allowing three hits, one walk, while striking out ten. Michael Siani doubled and singled, and Victor “E” Ruiz hit a solo dinger. On Saturday, Christian “Less Is” Roa got pounded so we’ll skip that cause we like him. Karcher and Timpanelli had good nights out of the pen. The offense was asleep most of the night but the Mighty Matt McLain and Mike “N Ike” Siani both singled, walked, and scored. Sunday was another poor one for the pitching staff. However, Braxton “Night at the” Roxby struck out two in two shutout innings. Victor Ruiz hit another dinger, and Quin Cotton went 2 for 4 with a double, a walk, and a RBI.

Gabriel Aguilera led off the weekend with a good start. He allowed only one earned run over four innings on four hits, one walk, while striking out six. Leonardo Seminati went 1 for 3 with a double, two RBI, and a walk but it wasn’t enough to overtake the Cardinals. In Saturday’s start, Jason Parker gave up three earned over four innings (5 H, 1 BB, 4 K) but the real noise was done in the bullpen when Lockwood pitched two shutout innings, and James “Sauce” Marinan gave up only one earned over three innings while striking out three. But, you can’t win if you don’t score and the Tortugas couldn’t get any run across the plate. Sunday, Bryce “Boppin” Bonnin gave up one earned (two total) over three innings. Three hits, two walks, while striking out five was his final line. Gozzo struck out three in a shutout inning, and Zimmerman picked up the save with a perfect ninth. “Little’ Debby Santana knocked in three runs with a clutch double.
